我們都知道在中文寫作中,有一些約定俗成的表達規(guī)則,這些在英文寫作中同樣存在。所以我們?yōu)榇蠹艺砹艘幌?點,為了讓同學更好地理解,也使用了一些簡單例句進行說明~

NO.01
不使用縮寫
示例:孩子們心理上不太成熟,以至于不能夠區(qū)分正確和錯誤的。
錯誤:Children are so immature psychologically that they can't distinguish between right and wrong.
正確:Children are so immature psychologically that they cannot distinguish between right and wrong.
在規(guī)范性寫作中,一定要避免縮寫,這是美國大學中學術寫作的基本要求。因此,can't,don't,doesn't,won't應該替換成cannot,can not,do not,does not,will not.
NO.02
規(guī)范使用數字
示例:在游戲過程中,孩子們可以鍛煉兩種不同的核心能力:計劃和管理資源的能力以及雙手眼協(xié)調能力。
錯誤:When playing video games,children could develop 2 crucial skills:planning and resource management skills and hand-eye coordination.
正確:When playing video games,children could develop two crucial skills:planning and resource management skills and hand-eye coordination.
在英語寫作中,1-10的數字需要“寫出來”,而且阿拉伯數字不能用在句子的開頭。
NO.03
關于數量的表達
示例:學生們有很多種形式獲得教授們的鼓勵
錯誤:Encouragement that students receive from their professors can take a lot of forms.
正確:Encouragement that students receive from their professors can take many forms.
在寫作中,a lot of/lots of表示為“許多”,較為不正式,通常使用much或many等表示。
NO.04
注意語態(tài)
示例:人們對于學前教育對孩子學術成績和個人發(fā)展的影響十分關注。
錯誤:Great attention has been paid to the influence of pre-school education on a child's academic achievements and personal development.
正確:Parents are paying growing attention to the influence of pre-school education on a child's academic achievements and personal development.
在寫作中,用“主動語態(tài)”代替“被動語態(tài)”。
NO.05
不用抽象、含糊的詞
示例:熱情使我堅持自己的信念,并督促我完成艱難的任務。
錯誤:Passion is the thing that holds ma belief and propels me to finsh the difficult task.
正確:Passion is the essential power that holds my belief and propels me to finsh the difficult task.
Thing的使用使得語言過于抽象、含糊,因此需要換成具體的“實義”名詞。
NO.06
however不用在句首
示例:這些路幾乎不能通行。但是,我們最終還是到達了營地。
錯誤:The roads were almot impassable. However, we atlast succeeded in reaching camp.
正確:The roads were almot impassable.At last,however we succeeded in reaching camp.
However意義相當于nevertheless,在句子或從句中通常不在句首出現(xiàn)。
上面這些小問題,多少同學不經人提醒一直都發(fā)現(xiàn)不了,這些小的細節(jié)錯誤也會讓你們的托福作文觀感不好,導致分數不漂亮!
