Dr. Gupta
What is one poor eating habit that would be important for most people to change, and why?
Kelly
If people could start with one change to improve their eating habits, it would be to eat a better breakfast.
Andrew
I think most people don’t bother to learn much about the food that they eat.
I fully support Kelly’s idea that having a better breakfast is the best first step toward better eating habits. Firstly, eating a breakfast that has a mix of nutrients like protein and fiber gives us energy to tackle the challenges in the day, or we may have to suffer from poor performance due to a lack of energy. Second, having a good breakfast can help us regulate our appetite, and prevent us from eating too much lunch or dinner. Therefore, a good breakfast is crucial for us to stay healthy and fit, and this is a simple but really important step that we should all take.
I agree with Andrew’s insight on the importance of understanding the food we consume. Firstly, being informed about ingredients and nutritional values allows us to make healthier choices, which is vital for our well-being. Otherwise we may waste time and money purchasing food that we should not or never consume. Secondly, reading food labels can help us identify hidden sugars and fats, so that we could better control our weight. This knowledge can protect us from having diet-related health issues, leading to a healthier life. Thus, taking the time to learn about our food is an essential change that we ought to make.
Quit late-night eating
1. Digestive burden
Stop eating too fast
1. Overeating
2. Poor digestion
Consume less junk food
1. Too much intake of salt and sugar
2. High risks of obesity
2.Speaking
Task 1
Friends or colleagues sometimes need to have a serious talk about a problem, such as a misunderstanding. Some people prefer to have these important discussions in a public place, such as a cafe or restaurant. Others prefer to have such talks in a more private place or at home. Which do you prefer? Explain why, using details and examples in your response.

I would prefer to solve our misunderstanding in a private place rather than in public. First, a private setting, such as our home, provides a quiet environment suitable for solving conflicts in friendships. I can express my feelings freely with the other one giving full attention. However, if we are in a restaurant, for example, our communication is likely to be constantly interrupted. Second, talking in private helps maintain privacy and respect. Misunderstandings can sometimes involve sensitive topics, and addressing them in public, like a restaurant, might make my friend uncomfortable or embarrassed as our conversation may be overheard by others. This will prevent us from being totally honest, and so is definitely negative in resolving misunderstanding.
